October 2020

Dear Friends,

Firstly, my heartfelt thanks for your warmth and kind messages in response to my last newsletter.  It was a hard one to write but felt like the right thing to do.  What seemed milestone ahead now feels like a milestone in my rear view mirror and I feel good about moving into the future.

Recent news is that I have been invited by EFDSS (English Folk Dance and Song Society) to be guest tutor for this terms Monday Folk Choir Workshops.  Each week, via Zoom, we spend a bit of time warming up and then I teach a folk song in 3 part harmony.  I put a basic recording of all the parts onto a Soundcloud link which you can sing with in your own time after the class.  It’s all very relaxed and beginners and/or those with experience are most welcome.  Come and join us if you fancy having a sing: https://www.efdss.org/learning/adults/monday-folk-choir-workshops.

With much of the UK back in various forms of lockdown (its looking like London could soon follow!) and after a spring/summer of cancelled gigs the few that are left on the horizon are looking decidedly blurred and unsteady, like looking through crap binoculars.  With that in mind I'll be launching a Patreon site over the coming weeks.  I am building the site at the moment and welcome any (mostly sensible!) ideas as to what would be of interest to potential patrons.  I want to strike the right balance between making what I do too ‘exclusive’ (which I really wouldn’t want to do!) and yet offering genuine value & interest.  I’m very aware that the current Covid situation is bearing down on us all and wouldn’t want to cut my work off from anyone either.  I'll certainly still be popping up on free platforms but by offering a handful of unique experiences I’m hoping that Patreon will enable some steady support in these very unsteady times.  I include some Patreon pages of artists I admire at the bottom of this letter.  You'll get the idea...

S O L O   PERFOMANCE
On Sunday 11th October from 7.30pm I will broadcast a little solo livestream sing from my home.  Its a free gig (biscuit jar donation totally optional!) and it will be lovely to just connect with real people so please pop on over even to just say 'hello'. I'll be broadcasting from my Lisa Knapp Music page on Facebook...

I am looking forward to digging out songs concerning all things supernatural and other worldly to perform again on Halloween/All Souls - Sat 31st October - time to be confirmed (could be late-ish).

I hope you can join me. In the meantime feel free to email any responses or ideas.

Stay well and be careful
And thanks again
Lisa xx
