Summer is acome, aint it just!
Well it has here, finally, over the last few days anyway. I have/am moved/moving house and am entwined in the chaotic yet delightful set of events which ensue with such an activity. However, I am finding time to learn new songs, as always, this time for two up-coming occasions which are special one offs.
Firstly, this Sunday 15th June, I shall be singing a short half hour set at London's Foundling Museum who this weekend are celebrating their 10th birthday. There are some specially comissioned brand new artworks on show by luminaries such as Grayson Perry (!) and many other amazing folkists singing and playing in the afternoon... more info here...
Secondly, a film is going to be made about an all time musical hero of mine, the wonderful Shirley Collins. I am so happy about this I could jump in the air and shout, but no-one would hear me as there's nobody in so perhaps I'll just learn a few more of her songs instead. On 22nd of June at Dalstons Cafe Oto there will be an evening of talks, screenings, performance and music, co-hosted by Stewart Lee, to launch a major crowd fund campaign which is to be managed by the newly inaugurated Shirley Collins Foundation. Shirley herself and Pip Barnes, The Belles of London City, Alasdair Roberts & Sam Lee will also be in attendance and I hope to sing a couple of ditties myself.... now which ones to chose? There's lots more about the project on Shirley's Website here..
More info on the Cafe Oto event here...
See ya soon.
